This is my Cruise blog
First of all, don't buy the internet package. ANY internet package. I bought the biggest and best, and I couldn't get on most of the time. Doing my blog it will be important to remember this.
Second of all. Speak out. If you never speak up you will never get heard. The cruise needed help. They needed somebody in charge.
I like karaoke. I really think it's a good way for people to talk and meet and enjoy each other. So on day one when they offered karaoke, I went. I went up to the girl who was running the show and try to put my name on the list. She told me that the list was full for the night. I had only arrived 10 min. late. If it was so popular they should have extended it so that more people get up and enjoy it. they should have done half a billion other things other than to tell people it was closed out.
It seemed like they would put things on the schedule and had nobody to run them. One night they had a over 40s singles party scheduled for the atrium. I showed up looked around and saw nothing but couples and young people. there was no cruise director, no assistant cruise director, showing up to help out these people.
The bartender there, gave drinks to all the people on my right-hand side, skip to me, gave a drink to somebody on the far left of me, then started on the far right of me. I of course complained and then the bartender got very indignant with me.
On day four, they had karaoke in Butterflies. This was a much larger venue and I showed up 5 min. ahead of time. The gentleman running the show this time didn't know how to set up equipment, didn't really know how to run the show. They put all the books in the back of the room on the venue. And people like me who have problems walking had to go up to the back of the venue and all the way up to the front again to enter a song. He then told me that he had sheets up front that if I wanted to enter I could enter. So I did the very first song. I noticed that one girl who had already sung after me was singing again. So I went up to complain. While talking to him I noticed that two other guys that I knew had already sang, were singing again before me. I just walked out at that point.
Meanwhile, this is a seven-day cruise of which four days had already gone by. These first four days I spent every meal by myself. I would go to the dining room. I would be sat at a table in the middle of the floor where everybody can see I was sitting alone.
With all the aggravation I had gone through in the first half of this cruise I sent the level letter off to Carnival. The very next day I was seated at a group table I had some nice conversations with people. But half of the cruise was already over with.
It wasn't until the very last day that I met someone who is situated like me. This young married mother of four, was traveling solo because her husband sent her on this trip to re-energize herself. If we had met on the first night we might have been able to do things together just as two friends would do.
So I tell people I didn't really meet anybody I didn't.
I will never cruise Carnival again.
