Recent past, near picture perfect future?
Last week I got a ring at the door, and it was a member of the local fire department asking for a donation. He was also a member of my American Legion. He is actually one of the bartenders there.
We got to talking and I informed him of what had transpired with my mothers passing. In case you missed it. My father passed and was cremated in 2009. When they tried to get his ashes interned at Calverton they couldn't because they didn't have his DD214.
When I came to help my mother, I really didn't want to wait and have to deal with my father ashes after my mother passed. So I obtained a copy of his DD214 and had it on hand.
When my mother passed, she did not want to be cremated after an incident with her best friends husbands cremation. Don't know what happened but that was her wishes. We had my fathers ashes placed in the casket at my mothers feet. It made the ceremony about both of them.
I called the Levittown American Legion Post and ask that a proper veterans send off be given to my father. I was refused because they were having an awards ceremony that night.
My father and I were members of that post. And when it came down to it, they were more interested in patting themselves on the back, then they were in taking care of a fellow post member and a veteran.
There were 2 viewings, one in the afternoon, one in the evening. They couldn't send ONE representative to either showing? Same on all of you.
